About St. Paul
The city of Saint Paul is the capital of Minnesota and lies on the north bank of the Mississippi River. Scenic lakes offer year-round recreation, and arts and culture are prominent in the city’s diverse neighborhoods. It is a city that celebrates the strengths of its downtown corporations while also working to support its residents that are struggling with poverty and homelessness.
Serving in St. Paul
• Plan and lead kids programming for children in the community, including Bible lessons, games, crafts and reading.
• Partner with local organizations to meet ongoing needs in the community.
• Most students will serve at each of the above service sites during part of the week. Those who serve with the kids program will remain there all week.
Throughout the week your group will have the opportunity to serve children through a Kids Club program and visit with elderly residents of Saint Paul. In addition, you will also partner with local homeless shelters (Dorothy Day Center) and other social service programs that are making an impact in the community. In the evenings, you will visit the historic St. Paul Cathedral and the Minnesota History Center, watch and participate in a local breakdancing competition put on by a local church, and share a meal with the community at a cookout.
We began serving in St. Paul in 2009. We have partnered with our current housing site since 2011.
