Our YouthWorks teams take the time to listen well, learn from diverse perspectives and honor communities.

Our own desire to be useful, to do something significant, or to be part of some impressive project is so strong… but I wonder more and more if the first thing should be to know people by name, to eat and drink with them, to listen to their stories and tell your own, and to let them know with words, handshakes, and hugs that you do not simply like them, but love them • This is what I love most about my job. Watching these students spread the love of Christ through their unconditional service. I witnessed these relationships come full circle in Brian's baptism last night. There is not a more humbling experience than to see our Lord move mountains, soften hearts, and bless the people of Mingo County, West Virginia. #yw2017

STAFF STORIES: “It is incredible what can happen when we let down our guards and fearlessly love others. Black Hills Works is not only a place to find community; it is a place of joy and compassion. Our students have the incredible opportunity to walk alongside the people with varying abilities at BHW each week and it is a privilege to watch them love these people. Who knew karaoke could be so life-giving? Having just come from a season of working with students with various abilities, this place is extremely special to me and an answer to so many prayers. “He has shown you what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” ‭‭Micah‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭ This is our community cookout last night. This week, we had 7 churches, but I honestly couldn't tell you who was from where because from day one they were all interacting and loving like they had known each other for years. We had 6 crews who served humbly and joyfully alongside each other all week. We had 55 people who radiate love, light, beauty, and goodness. Humbled. Thankful. Blessed. #yw2017

We asked Mr. Bill what his favorite restaurant in his community Allison Hill was and he said Tacos Mi Teirra. Best. Tacos. Of. My. Life. Mr. Bill and I have that in common. Our favorite food is tacos. I love this community so much. And I love Tacos. This is why we do what we do. With one of the warmest weeks we've had this summer, having every day in the 90s or 100s, God was still ever present in the Rosebud community. The students we had continued to served above and beyond expectations and accomplished so many amazing things from splitting wood to getting splashed with bucket after bucket of water. It's a true testament of God's glory to see high schoolers give up a week of their summer to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a community far away from their own. I am so blessed to be able to see these things happen every day and work with such amazing people. #yw2017
