SportsLife Camps offers several types of summer staff positions. Although each team member shares many of the same job responsibilities, unique areas of leadership define each position. All summer staff members live and work in teams that travel in SportsLife provided vehicles throughout assigned regions of the U.S. and are trained at the beginning of the summer to perform their roles.
CAMP DIRECTOR
Camp Directors exercise authentic leadership. Mentor and supervise three to four Summer Coaches as the spiritual, programmatic and organizational leader of a team. Assist Coaches with programmatic responsibilities and deliver programming alongside them including coaching designated areas of sports or arts. Manage finances with integrity and maintain the overall spiritual focus of the team and at each camp. Provide leadership for adult volunteers at camp by helping them to understand and to fulfill their roles as they experience camp with the kids. Be the main bridge of communication between the team and SLC leadership, as well as with each church the team serves. Develop lifelong friendships with fellow team members and seek to foster lifelong relationships between campers and adult leaders. Camp Directors must have previous leadership experience and the ability to manage a team.
SUMMER COACH
Summer Coaches work as a member of a four to five person team to create a spiritually focused and outrageously fun day camp at different churches throughout the summer. Serve as head coach/teacher of designated areas of sports or creative arts. Lead along with team members all areas of camp, participating and sharing their love of God with the campers. Daily set up and tear down camp, working to ensure the safety of each child and adult at camp and engaging in meetings with the Camp Director and full team. Summer Coaches must be flexible, teachable, willing to grow in all areas and have knowledge and experience in the areas they are hired to coach.
SUMMER COACH - UTILITY
Utility Coaches begin the summer assigned to a region, but not to a specific team. They must be ready to be assigned in any given week to a team based on necessity; whether the need is for an added resource at a large camp or for substituting for an absent team member. Be a jack of all trades by being trained to coach all areas of sports and arts that we offer to churches. Be willing to fulfill any and all responsibilities and roles as a Summer Coach. Support teams with spiritual encouragement and a servant attitude. Utility Coaches must be flexible and willing to adapt to changing roles, locations and teams. At any point during the summer, Utility Coaches may be permanently placed with a team to fill an open position.
